Following Week 6’s upset of the last two undefeated NFL teams, the Detroit Lions’ impressive victory over the Bucs propels them to the top spot in the league.

The Detroit Lions extended their remarkable winning streak in Week 6 by defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a score of 20-6, securing a 5-1 record for the season. This victory marks the Lions’ fourth consecutive win, with each win coming by a margin of 14 points or more, solidifying their position at the pinnacle of the NFL standings.

At 5-1, the Lions are now part of a select group of five teams with the best records in the NFL after six weeks. The other four teams sharing this esteemed status alongside the Lions include the Kansas City Chiefs, whom the Lions triumphed over in Week 1. Additionally, the Miami Dolphins are in this elite group, as well as the previously undefeated Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers, both of whom suffered losses this week to the New York Jets and the Cleveland Browns, respectively.

Moreover, the Lions currently possess the second-longest active winning streak at four games, with only the Chiefs boasting a longer streak. When tracing back to the commencement of Detroit’s turnaround in Week 9 of the previous season, the Lions boast an impressive 13-3 record, surpassed only by the 49ers (14-1) and the Chiefs (14-2).

In the NFC North, the Packers, with a 2-3 record, had a bye week and maintain their second-place position behind the Lions. The Vikings, with a 2-4 record, secured a victory over the Bears (1-5), moving them into third place in the division and relegating Chicago to the bottom. The Lions retain a comfortable 2 1/2-game lead over the Packers, which includes holding the tiebreaker courtesy of their victory. They also enjoy a three-game lead over the Vikings and an impressive four-game lead over the Bears.
