Oppo has introduced its latest addition to the A-series lineup, the A2 Pro, in China. This new smartphone boasts a curved 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a rapid 120Hz refresh rate and is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 7050 chipset. However, what sets the A2 Pro apart is its remarkable promise regarding battery longevity – Oppo claims that the 5,000 mAh battery housed inside this device will maintain at least 80% of its health for a minimum of four years from the date of purchase. To back this claim, Oppo pledges to provide a free battery replacement if the battery health falls below 80% within this four-year timeframe.

According to Oppo’s extensive testing, the battery of the A2 Pro managed to retain an impressive 88% of its original capacity after enduring 1,000 charge cycles. This means that users can expect it to last through daily charges for four years before experiencing any significant decline. The 5,000 mAh battery also supports rapid 67W wired charging and incorporates a proprietary battery health engine and power chip. These features monitor the charging process, prevent overheating, and protect against overcharging.

The A2 Pro offers ample memory and storage options, with configurations including up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Despite the substantial camera housing and multiple cutouts on the rear, the phone features only a 64MP main camera with an f/1.7 aperture and 0.7µm pixel size, along with a 2MP depth sensor. On the software front, the device runs on ColorOS 13.1, based on the Android 13 operating system. It also comes equipped with an in-display fingerprint scanner and boast an IP54 rating for water and dust resistance.

The Oppo A2 Pro is available in Vast Black, Desert Brown (vegan leather), and Twilight color options. Pricing starts at CNY 1,799 (approximately $248) for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model, while the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage variant is priced at CNY 2,399 (approximately $330). The phone is set to go on open sale in China starting from September 22nd.
