Eugenie Bouchard has been named in Team Canada for the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup finals, marking her return to international competition after a gap of five years. She will join a strong Canadian squad featuring Leylah Fernandez, Gabriela Dabrowski, Rebecca Marino, and Marina Stakusic. The finals of the Billie Jean King Cup are scheduled to take place at the Estadio de la Cartuja in Seville, Spain, from November 7 to 12.

Eugenie Bouchard, who last participated in the Billie Jean King Cup in 2018 and has played a total of 10 matches in the tournament, will make her comeback. Notably, Canada’s singles Grand Slam champion, Bianca Andreescu, will not be part of the team due to her back injury.

Team Canada is placed in Group C and will compete against host nation Spain, featuring Paula Badosa, Sara Sorribes Tormo, Rebeka Masarova, Cristina Bucsa, and Marina Bassols Ribera, on November 8. Their second group tie is against Poland on November 10, with Poland’s Magda Linette, Magda Frech, Katarzyna Kawa, and Weronika Falkowska participating.

In 2023, Eugenie Bouchard has competed at various levels, including the WTA Tour, WTA Challenger Tour, and ITF tournaments. Her year started with an appearance at the Bogota Open in April, where she won her opening-round match against Switzerland’s Ylena In-Albon. She also participated in the Madrid Open, where she defeated Dayana Yastremska in the first round. In May, Bouchard reached the quarterfinals of a Challenger tournament in Florence, Italy. She was then awarded a main draw wildcard at the Guadalajara Open, where she secured a win against Renata Zarazua but lost to Veronika Kudermetova in the second round.

Despite her past achievements, including being ranked as high as World No. 5, Eugenie Bouchard is currently positioned at World No. 232.
