“Dream Girl 2,” a fresh Hindi-language comedy-drama, delves into the hilarious tale of a man who finds himself embroiled in chaos and confusion as he disguises himself as a woman. C.K. Muraleedharan, the Director of Photography, faced the daunting task of crafting music videos for two vibrant item songs. These songs featured the male lead in his female guise, encompassing one with a club dance atmosphere and another celebrating a festival, all shot at distinct locations.
For this creative endeavor, Light Craft & Sound PVT Ltd, a renowned equipment rental company, came to the forefront. They provided a diverse array of lighting fixtures, including Claypaky Tambora Batten Square, Sharpy X Frame, HY B-Eye K25, and Mythos2. Additionally, ARRI SkyPanel S60-C lights were enlisted to illuminate the scenes.
The selection of this lighting equipment stemmed from the unwavering trust that the team, led by Imran Shaikh and his accomplished Lighting Designers – Sachin, Vikram, Kaushik, Naresh, Rohan, and Raju Das, had in these reputable brands and their fixtures. Imran Shaikh emphasized, “Claypaky Sharpy X Frame has unique effects and is one of our most trusted lights. The fixtures are compact and lightweight, offering high-intensity beams and fast, precise movement.”
The lighting setup involved suspending the Claypaky Sharpy X Frames, K25s, and Mythos2 fixtures upside down on truss structures, while the ARRI SkyPanel S60-Cs were strategically positioned on stands to provide ambient lighting. The Claypaky Tambora battens were thoughtfully placed in the background to complete the lighting scheme.
Markus Klüsener, Senior Product Manager Lighting at ARRI, noted the harmonious synergy achieved by combining ARRI and Claypaky lighting fixtures. He stated, “This application perfectly demonstrates the synergistic potential of combining ARRI and Claypaky lighting fixtures. The product offering of both brands compliments each other while offering the user the additional simplicity of bundling with one single manufacturer.” He went on to highlight the growing trend of integrating traditional entertainment and live event lighting fixtures with film production, not only for special effects but also for distant key-lighting applications.
Throughout the shooting process, all the lighting fixtures delivered exceptional performance. Arjun Singh, the Managing Director of Light Craft and Sound, commended the manufacturers for their outstanding support, emphasizing that their assistance was readily available, even for minor issues.
